The Retraxpro XR is built like it was designed to keep your items safe as a bunker in a nuclear war. This thing is tough but smooth and easy to use. I have an 8ft bed on a 2023 F350 and so far no dust no water no prying eyes. This product is an excellent option for keeping a utility knife from being the only tool needed to cut through a Tonneau cover and so easy to use that you hardly need to have a brain to operate. If you think it’s pricey ask yourself, “what’s the price of protection from an atomic bomb”, buy a truck bed bunker, buy a Retrax.

I bought this to replace an aging Extang Revolution. I loved that cover mostly because I don't like covers that have velcro to seal the sides.
This cover does not use velcro. I love the very low profile and the ease of rolling. I also like the easy close at the tailgate. The Extang had springs and needed to be stretched to close it. The mechanism eventually fails and it becomes hard if not impossible to get it closed and latched.

I really like the weather resistance of the X4S. So far I've only seen small amounts of water in the truck bed after rain storms.

The negatives on the X4S, at least for me, are 1) the knobs that hold the head of the cover at the front of the bed have nylock nuts in them and they are VERY hard to tighten up, despite the knobs. I may change them to standard nuts and lock washers. 2) The hold open straps now have this sort of T connector that slips into a holder and is supposed to stay put once you tighten the strap. So far, I've seen the straps loosen on there own and the T connector is in danger of falling out. I'm trying to figure out a better method of securing the cover when it's open. But some have said this in an improvement over the X4, but I don't really buy that.

After weathering several storms and a couple high pressure car washes, my bed is still dry. Follow instructions to the letter and yours should be too. There were a few drops of water (like 5 - 7 drops of rain) along the front of the bed, which for me is totally acceptable. I do not haul fine silks. As far as security, my tools may as well be in Fort Knox. ANYTHING is breakable, but it's going to take some serious effort and a lot of noise, which would alert me to give someone either 9mm or .40 reasons to stop what they are doing. As you can see in the photos, the Truxedo Elevate FS cross bars work flawlessly with the bed cover. This cover has given me many times over the amount of secure storage space. I own a construction business and I no longer have to put dirty tools in the cab of my truck. I feel 100% confident that my tools are safe. Yes, this bed cover is pricey, but it is also very high quality. Unless you're one of those people that would complain about having to pay taxes on a $500 million winning lottery ticket, you should like this bed cover also.

I was somewhat skeptical of buying from tonneaucovered because I have been conditioned to believe if it seems too good to be true, it probably is… It was ordered on Tuesday and delivered on Saturday. It was sent directly from Retrax and it was in perfect shape. I could not be happier with the transaction and it was the least expensive I could find by far!! I cannot guarantee an issue free purchase but my experience was awesome!!

Did alot of research and spoke with many owners of various brands of covers. By far, owners of the RETRAX covers had the most satisfaction out if them. None of them stated they wish they'd gotten something different. Easy install. Took me and my 9 year old just over a hour to install.
